Pictures of a very handsome boy!

I just wanted to give a little update and share some pictures I have taken in the past few days of our sweet little man!! He is growing growing growing!! He has graduated to sleeping in the crib at night instead of Mom and Dad's room. Harrison is still waking up twice, but he is going longer between feedings. Aunt Teeny and Reese let us borrow a Baby Einstein play mat. Harrison LOVES it!! It is full of bright colors, and he will sit and stare at them! He also really likes to sit with Daddy and watch sports. I know he is too young to really know, but it's the cutest thing to see my two favorite guys together. He will be six weeks tomorrow, and I can't believe it. Time has flown by!! Enjoy the pictures of our growing boy!

The best smile ever!!

Visitors from Alabama!

This past Wednesday, my sisters, Katie and Jesie came into town! Katie and her husband, Caleb, had a sweet little girl, Taryn, on May 5. It was very exciting for us to have Harrison and Taryn to meet since they are so very close in age. We grew up very close with our cousins, and since we don't live near each other, we have to make the most of every opportunity to see each other.  We had so much fun! We shopped, shopped and shopped a little more. The kids did great! They were such troopers on our outings each day.  I was so happy to have a few days with my sisters.
Things got even better when my grandparents drove in on Thursday.  They take random trips in their RV all the time. So, on their way to North Dakota (yes, North Dakota) they stopped and stayed a couple nights here. They made an awesome meal Friday night! My Paw-paw and Nanny know how much I love his roast, so they brought everything over and cooked for all of us that night. It was a little piece of home right here in Houston!
Now, here are some pictures from the week.

Happy 4th of July...a few days late. :)

Monday, we headed over to Papa and Mimi's house to eat for the Fourth of July!! The ribs and all the other goodies were delicious. Jeff had a good time swimming with Michael, Reese and Chasidy. I think he was more worn out that the kids were.  Harrison and I decided that it was just a little too early to swim, so we just kept an eye on everyone. Well, he slept. We had a great time!!
Jeff wanted Harrison to wear his Alabama hat...it was a tad too big. :)

This week is going to be great! My sisters are coming in. I get to meet my sweet niece, Taryn. She is about a month and a half older than Harrison. My grandparents are also coming in. :) There will be plenty of pictures for the next post. :) Have a great week!

The last week!

This last week has been wonderful having little Harrison at home and getting settled in. He is such a good baby (I know, I'm biased.) Monday, my very best friend, Drew, came into Houston. After we found out that I had to have a c-section and wouldn't be able to get around as easily, she decided to come in to help. She would stay up with Harrison at night. I would wake up to feed him, and then she would let me get some sleep in. She cooked us meals every night! She also drove us around all week. That chore, she wasn't too happy about. We stayed on the feeder roads the whole time! But, we made it! We were very sad to see her go this morning, and we can't wait for her to come back. Harrison and I may have to make a trip to Georgia pretty soon. :)
I also wanted to thank all the family and friends here that have helped us so much in the past couple of weeks. I honestly don't know how we would have made it without all of you!!! We love you!!
Now, more pictures. :)

Harrison's first few days. :(

We got home from the hospital on Tuesday, June 21. On Wednesday morning, I was supposed to take Harrison in to the pediatrician. He had lost some weight in the hospital and she wanted to make sure he was gaining some back. Tuesday night was rough. He didn't sleep well at all. Every hour or so he was up. Jeff's mom took Harrison and I to see Dr. Chandler.  They checked his temp and said that it was low. It was around 96 degrees.  The nurse never would say what could be the cause. Meanwhile, he had gained some weight. :) Dr. Chandler came in, checked his temp again, and it was still low.  She then told us that we had to take him to the ER.  Yes, I had only had him home a night, and we  were going to the ER. She explained that it could be an infection, and she didn't want to take any chances.  We went to the ER, and Jeff met us there. They got him in, and started tests. They drew blood, started an IV, collected urine and did a spinal tap. Talk about hysterical! My poor little boy!!! He handled it like a champ though! He was so tough, a lot tougher than his mom! They sent us upstairs to the NICU and checked us in. We would have to stay there until at least Friday, when they got the test results in. They proceeded to keep him under the warmer, check his vitals, and do more tests. He started to get better each time they checked him. I stayed up there with him Wednesday night. The room was small and there was only a chair that pulled out into a bed. Thursday, they let us know that the tests would not be back until Saturday! On the plus side, our wonderful nurse, called around and got us a room on the pediatrics floor since Harrison was doing better! We stayed two more nights in the hospital. Harrison continued to get better. Saturday, all the tests came back negative. He was okay! We never got a definite reason as to why  his temp was low, but we are glad that he doesn't have any infection. He is doing so much better.
We had his two week check up with Dr. Chandler yesterday, and he is up to 7 lbs and 6 oz!!! She said that everything looks wonderful!

He's Here, He's Here!!

After 41 weeks, we finally have our baby boy!!! Yes, 41 weeks!!! I was due on June 10, and June 10 came and went.  When we went to the doctor the week of my due date, he told me that if everything checked out, the next week I could be induced. Everything checked out. We were supposed to call the hospital on Wednesday morning at 5:00 a.m. to check and see what time we had to be there for the induction. I called and was told that they were full, and they would just call us when a bed opened up. About two hours later, Dr. Giannotti called. Bad news. Apparently, everybody in The Woodlands decided to go in and have their babies Tuesday night.  My induction was pushed back until Saturday. By then I would be a medical induction, so I would take priority over elective inductions. :) We got to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, and again, they were full. We got into a room around 8:00 a.m. They started the pitocin, and we were on our way!
Around 11:00 or so, Dr. Giannotti came in to break my water. I was up to 5 cm. I asked for the epidural, and got it just a few minutes later. I was counting on that magic medicine. It didn't work...at first. The nurse handed me a button that I could push whenever I started feeling the contractions again. Needless to say, I wore that button out!! I kept progressing until I got to 8 cm. Then, it all stopped! Dr. G came in and said that we couldn't turn up the pitocin because the baby wasn't handling it well. I had to have a C-section. I had a small breakdown, but luckily, my husband is the most wonderful man I know. He calmed me down (as much as I could be calmed down.) We went in the OR, and I was given the spinal block. Well, just like the epidural, it didn't work. I felt the first couple of cuts. So....I had to be put under and Jeff had to leave the room. It was the scariest day of my life (until a couple days later.)  When I woke up, everyone was going on about this beautiful little boy that we had. And he is so beautiful!
Harrison Jennings Luker was born at 6:33 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011. He was 7 lbs. and 5 oz. and 20.25 inches long!! He was a very healthy little boy!
The road to have this amazing little boy was very long and hard, but it was very well worth it. God had blessed our family beyond measure with Harrison!! Thank you to all our family and friends for their love and support throughout the past two and a half years!! Now...enjoy the pictures. :)
Jeff and I before labor started!

Jesie got bored, so she recruited Natalie and Teeny to play Phase 10. It got pretty intense.

After a long day, he made it!!
