*I don't usually divulge medical information on here, but I feel for everyone to understand how big of a miracle (and surprise) this baby is, I need to tell. Don't worry, nothing weird. :) *
Back in July, I had to have a small surgery. I had been having a lot of pain, and Dr. Giannotti wanted to check it out. I have had the same surgery before I got pregnant with Harrison. It was the same as the last time...adhesions and endometriosis. He removed everything, and I was feeling so much better. When I went back for my 6-week post-op appointment, he told me that if we were going to have another child, it needed to be fast. My body apparently isn't going to hold up too much longer in the baby department. He also said that we needed to go straight to the fertility doctor this time. The sooner the better. I believe I was in shock after he told me all of this. Jeff, of course, was very optimistic, as always. I did not go into that appointment thinking that I would walk out with a small time frame to have another child. We made an appointment with the fertility doctor, and we met with him. We planned to do the same as last time, injections and IUI.
I had been feeling very strange right around my birthday. I had been VERY dizzy. I never felt like that with Harrison. I didn't know what was going on. Reese came over on a Thursday night to stay the night with us. I am not sure why I picked that night to take a test, but I did. Took it, and it was POSITIVE! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I had been praying ever since seeing Dr. Giannotti that everything would work out well this time. I don't think that I EVER thought that it would happen like this. *P.S. trying to hide my shock from a very intelligent four-year old was probably the toughest part.* Of course, it felt like Jeff stayed at work forever that night. When he got home, I showed him the test. His response- "Shut up! Are you serious?" I wanted to say something like he would say, like, "nope, just got someone pregnant to take the test for me, just to see how you would react." :) Fast forward to this past Wednesday, we went for our first ultrasound and to see Dr. G. The baby's heartbeat was 176. A lot higher than Harrison's ever was. I am due May 22, but since I had a C-section with H, I will be able to deliver in my 39th week. No more overdue baby!! Everything looks great!
I think everyone has been a little shocked. A few family members and friends have known that we were going to have to go back to the fertility doctor, so when this happened, they were a little thrown off. This pregnancy has been so different from Harrison's. I have been VERY sick. With H, I was just nauseated, never really got sick. Not this time!!
