We got home from the hospital on Tuesday, June 21. On Wednesday morning, I was supposed to take Harrison in to the pediatrician. He had lost some weight in the hospital and she wanted to make sure he was gaining some back. Tuesday night was rough. He didn't sleep well at all. Every hour or so he was up. Jeff's mom took Harrison and I to see Dr. Chandler. They checked his temp and said that it was low. It was around 96 degrees. The nurse never would say what could be the cause. Meanwhile, he had gained some weight. :) Dr. Chandler came in, checked his temp again, and it was still low. She then told us that we had to take him to the ER. Yes, I had only had him home a night, and we were going to the ER. She explained that it could be an infection, and she didn't want to take any chances. We went to the ER, and Jeff met us there. They got him in, and started tests. They drew blood, started an IV, collected urine and did a spinal tap. Talk about hysterical! My poor little boy!!! He handled it like a champ though! He was so tough, a lot tougher than his mom! They sent us upstairs to the NICU and checked us in. We would have to stay there until at least Friday, when they got the test results in. They proceeded to keep him under the warmer, check his vitals, and do more tests. He started to get better each time they checked him. I stayed up there with him Wednesday night. The room was small and there was only a chair that pulled out into a bed. Thursday, they let us know that the tests would not be back until Saturday! On the plus side, our wonderful nurse, called around and got us a room on the pediatrics floor since Harrison was doing better! We stayed two more nights in the hospital. Harrison continued to get better. Saturday, all the tests came back negative. He was okay! We never got a definite reason as to why his temp was low, but we are glad that he doesn't have any infection. He is doing so much better.
We had his two week check up with Dr. Chandler yesterday, and he is up to 7 lbs and 6 oz!!! She said that everything looks wonderful!
